The training offered by the NxTEC Summer Internship Programme was very diversified. I have attended a training on CV preparation and interview tips which improved my confidence when I attended interviews for summer internship.

The training had also improved my communication skills which facilitated my expression of opinions during my internship.. I worked as a Software Engineer for my internship, and my main duties included coding and website development. During my internship, I found that I could contribute to my team even though I was only a student intern. For instance, there was a senior colleague who forgot to do backup of our database. I took the initiative to remind the colleague so we could keep the record of our work progress, and the colleague thanked me in the end. The boss of my company was a bit different from what I previously imagined. He was very young and friendly, and was receptive to colleagues’ opinions. He also provided very sufficient support to student interns, facilitating us to complete our assigned tasks. I would recommend the students to participate in the NxTEC Summer Internship Programme as it offered a valuable learning opportunity for students to understand the working culture, skills required and the precautions for working in the innovation and technology industry.
