Being in the innovation & technology industry, we had to upskill ourselves and acquire new skills constantly in order to catch up with the fast development.

I worked as a Programme Assistant in an information technology company during my internship and coding was my main duty. I was assigned a task to establish company’s website. I found that my knowledge and skills acquired in school were not sufficient for me to handle the task. Therefore, I started to learn how to write the codes for the website, but the process didn’t go smoothly as I did not master the coding skills very well at the beginning. I took the initiative to consult my supervisor and eventually was able to accomplish the task after the guidance of my supervisor.

My biggest takeaway from my internship was to realize that being in the innovation & technology industry, we had to upskill ourselves and acquire new skills constantly in order to catch up with the fast development. I was very pleased to have the internship opportunity which offered me a lot of practical knowledge.
